Tip On Choosing The Right Satin Photo Paper

When you print out pictures on  your satin photo paper to hang on the walls and share with others, you want them to look impressive and stand out on their own. One excellent way to do this is to purchase a variety of different good old paper options to choose from:

  • satin photo paper (preferred)
  • white A3 photo paper
  • laser glossy photo paper
  • 11 x 17 photo paper

These are just a few of the different options you have to choose from. Here are some suggestions and information about the options so you can purchase the ones that fit your budget along with the purpose of what the paper is for.

Satin photo paper

When it comes to satin photo paper, you should use it for pictures that have a lot of dark colors. Unlike other photo options, satin photo  paper will absorb the ink quickly which can cause the ink to bleed through if you don’t purchase one that is pretty thick. The standard recommendation is 7 mil. thick for satin photo paper to allow your pictures to stand out and look impressive. Satin paper dries quickly and it will hold its original look even if you roll or crinkle it.

White photo paper

This type is usually bright white and it is used for business presentations and other events where you do not intend to hang the picture in a frame on the wall. White photo paper is pretty cheap to come by and you can find it just about anywhere. It is similar to card stock but it differs for it’s drying ability and the way the fibers of the paper will hold in the color.

Laser glossy photo paper

Another popular option is the laser glossy photo paper. You can find this type anywhere and just about everyone with a laser printer will use it. The downside is that it can take days to dry. It has a natural gloss to it and this can make it difficult for the ink to be absorbed, which can be quite frustrating for you if you need to hand off the pictures after you print them.

11 x 17 photo paper

For those over sized pictures, you will need to look for the 11 x 17 36 photo paper pages that are found at your local copy center or office supply store. You need to make sure you have a printer that is able to handle over sized pictures and you will need photo ink as the larger prints take up a lot of ink.

After you print out your pictures, look for some fun ways to incorporate them into a scrapbook. One option you have is to try the ripped old paper design. All you need is some card stock or construction paper and tear it from one side to the other. It’s a lot of fun and it’s an easy way to make your pictures stand out.
